EDMONDS, WA :: The kittens are taking over our website! Kristie insisted we post more photos of them in our album, because they're growing so fast. They've nearly doubled in size, but they're still pretty darn cute.
It took us a few days to come up with names. Kristie decided on Sage to match the girl's greenish eyes, and I initially thought I would name the boy Mace so that we could have a duo of herbs. But I wanted the name to have more significance, so I added a letter to match a character in one of my favorite series of books. If you've read George R.R. Martin's
"Song of Ice and Fire," then you know Mance, and you might agree it's a pretty good name for a cat, especially one that sings! Mance is the musical and lovable lap cat. Sage is the frisky and ambitious one.
The cats will always be kept indoors, so we made a big purchase to make litter cleanup less of a chore. The bottom two photos show our
Litter Robot, an automated litter box that actually works! So far it's been great, except Sage isn't heavy enough yet to activate the sensor, so she experiences a little tumble occasionally as the orb rotates to clean. It's definitely worth the cost. The bin just needs to be emptied once a week and the litter replaced every two weeks.
