SOUTHWEST VACATION DAY 3 :: ESCONDIDO, CA :: We had a choice between visiting the San Diego Zoo or the Wild Animal Park, and we were glad we decided on the latter. Most of the animals in the Wild Animal Park are able to roam across acres of land resembling their natural habitat. We started our day with a tram ride that circles the park and is narrated by a funny guide. We then checked out the various exhibits linked by wooden walkways that provided a close-up view of the animals. The highlights included the lions, giraffes, rhinos, a close encounter with a caracal, and feeding time with a cheetah - unfortunately he was a shy cheetah, but impressive none the less.
